Since 2001 Catharine has joyfully shared her love of yoga in Clayton. She taught for the Parks and Recreation Department at The Clayton Center through her business East Second Street Yoga and Massage. In 2009 the dream of having a proper yoga studio in Clayton was realized when she and her husband, Bob, purchased the historic First Bank of Clayton building on East First Street. Changing the business name to Purna Yoga East is her way of honoring the holistic approach to yoga that has transformed and continues to guide her life.
Catharine studies regularly with the founders of Purna Yoga, Aadil Palkhivala and Mirra, with whom she has traveled to India. She is a Certified Purna Yoga Instructor, having completed Aadil and Mirra’s College of Purna Yoga with over 2,000 hours of training in asana, pranayama, meditation, nutrition, applied philosophy and yoga therapy.
In addition to teaching ongoing classes at Purna Yoga East, instructing aspiring yoga teachers at the Yoga Alliance 200-hour level in Clayton and directing the Purna Yoga East Studio, Catharine also teaches the 500-hour College of Purna Yoga Teacher Training Program at Yoga Centers for Aadil and Mirra in Bellevue, WA.
Trusted and caring, she is honored to share her knowledge and experience with others.

In the 1990s she began to practice yoga in Chapel Hill. Over the last 10 years she has studied with four of the world's leading yoga teachers in the United States and Canada.
Through yoga, Anna learned the art of going within and finding the energy that can penetrate outward through all layers of the body and mind. Yoga is the most intimate, challenging and exhilarating of all transformative experiences.
Anna began to teach yoga in 2003 and now finds herself teaching a group of people who have begun to open themselves up to the wonder of yoga. She believes that as we unveil ourselves over time, we move into one integrative body that turns us into a new living form.
